The Families of Waterford Estate

The Ord and Arnold families combine to form the roots of Waterford and have created a base for the extended family. Not only is Waterford a highly successful working wine farm, it is the culmination of years of passion and a concerted effort to build something enduring and meaningful. Waterford Estate is a living monument to the Ord and Arnold families' philosophy of embracing life, family, friends, food and wine.

To the Ord family, the farm provides a magnificent escape to a home away from home surrounded by beauty and tranquility. It is a place that embodies happiness and time spent there always includes a number of generations of both family and friends. The combination of the beauty of the mountains, gardens and the relaxed environment that the farm affords them is what makes it such a beloved sanctuary.

Jeremy is the founder and Chairman of global IT company Dimension Data. The significant business expertise and contacts that the family brings to the partnership is invaluable, and fits together beautifully with the Arnolds' creative talents to make a formidable team.

Jeremy and Leigh's eldest daughter, Ashleigh, is 20 and is a medical student at the Univeraity of Cape Town. Michael (18) is in his final year at school at St Stithians College and will be attending Stellenbosch University next year. Kate (16) is at Kingsmead College. Both schools are in Johannesburg.

The Arnold family lives on the estate and Heather Arnold is involved in hands-on daily operations at Waterford, including maintaining all the gardens, stylising the winery, sourcing furniture and features, planning for functions and interacting regularly with staff.

Kevin and Heather's son Rob is their eldest. He graduated at Stellenbosch University in 2006 with a BA degree in Law. He is currently doing a post-graduate entrepreneurial course at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Lloyd is at Stellenbosch University studying Environmental Development, while Nadine is in her first year studying for a B Comm PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) at UCT.
